Perhaps the most vitriolic responses have been about the amount of time allowed for responses, with phrases like "unreasonable", "an insult", and "morally wrong" appearing.
It is important to know that the Hornsby Shire Council, not the JRPP, is responsible for deciding whether an extension of time will be allowed. The relevant Council Planning Officer, Garry Mahoney, has posted a response to a request for an extension saying "The notification period of the above application is therefore in accordance with Council’s procedures to allow sufficient time to enable informed public participation. If you would like to discuss any aspect of this matter please do not hesitate to contact me on 9847 6868." So I suggest people call Garry directly to express their views.
It is interesting that council notification letters publishing this DA were apparently sent out on 20 Dec, three weeks into the assessment period? Yet this is not reflected in a consequent extension of the review period.
