An article in the Northern District Times explains that "The proposal overrides local government planning controls, including height restrictions, with the State Government Joint Regional Planning Panel being the consent authority".
C Ward councillor Andrew Martin is quoted as saying it "rides roughshod over our planning regulations - five stories is totally inappropriate for the area."
So anyone protesting against the proposal should lobby your local MP, Greg Smith, and the State Premier, Barry O'Farrell, not just Hornsby Shire Council.
